Action Team: Violence Prevention 

The Violence Prevention Action Team is focused on bringing organizations together to address gun violence prevention and reduction. The Violence Prevention Action Team implements strategies that strive to tackle youth education, law enforcement guidelines, and community engagement.

The St. Louis Area Violence Prevention Commission is the backbone organization for the Violence Prevention Action Team.

Goal: To reduce gun-related homicides and nonfatal shooting incidents in the St. Louis region by 25 percent by 2024.

 

Objective 1: Improve community-level response to nonfatal shootings.

Strategy 1.1: Reduce barriers to system navigation.

Objective 2: Advance trauma informed and evidence-based violence prevention practices in community, systems and service delivery.

Strategy 2.1: Leverage existing resources and education to promote trauma awareness.

Strategy 2.2: Promote violence prevention programming at the community level.

Objective 3: Activate communities to strengthen police legitimacy.

Strategy 3.1: Identify community needs and adapt existing models to promote police legitimacy.

Strategy 3.2: Implement improved accountability measures.
